Lisa Pollard

Lisa began her artistic career in her teens by winning an award for a large three-dimensional painting. She then continued pursuing her artistic talents – designing art nouveau style greeting cards and producing intricate craft items. Commercially she designed products such as a dental nerve kit that was patented in Japan, exhibitions, letterheads, signs and labels.

As an Industrial Designer she won a Sebel Design Award for a lounge rocking chair. Lisa was also on the Australian Post Stamp Advisory Committee, which selects future stamp designs.

Lisa has traveled extensively overseas – she has experienced the traditions of Europe, Africa, Asia and the America’s. She ventured up the Amazon and in Central America became inspired by the colorful geometric patterns of Guatemalan art.

For the past 13 years she has traveled with her husband within Australia by 4WD, and camped in the remote areas of the outback. While Lisa has worked in inks, pastels and watercolor, she favors acrylics that provide the texture and intensity has of colour that portrays her vision and beauty, harshness and isolation of our interior.

As well as the Australian outback, Lisa’s garden provides inspiration. These paintings portray strikingly shaped flowers painted on bright and bold colours. As the mood changes so does her paintings, and she us continually seeking new methods of portraying some of the more mundane products of nature in a more enlightened fashion through abstract means.
